Gardner Aerospace (Burnley)
I'd had my eye on this building for a while but got there just a tad too late as demolition had already begun. I turned up and had a look round and all seemed to be quiet although i did think it was a little strange that the front gate was wide open. My suspicions were right as i had only gone through the gate by 10ft when a van pulled up behind me, it was the owner of the building who turned out to be a rather nice chap showing me around and then leaving me to get on with taking pics. The building most recently was used by Gardner Aerospace who manufactured parts for the RAF Typhoon and Airbus A380 on the site along with various other aircraft components. Due to the economic downturn the company decided to restructure its operations with the burnley site being split and moved to its other premises in Derbyshire and Hull. A campaign was started to keep the firm in Burnley with the company being offered new state of the art facilities in the town in order to save the jobs of the 120 strong workforce, the campaign failed and the site was closed for the last time in 2011. The site is currently being demolished with plans to rebuild on the site. There isn't a great deal of internal shots as i was asked to stick to certain areas and given the circumstances i had to oblige.
