Habergham High School
I cant seem to find much history on this school before 2006. Rumour has it the school started life in the 1950's as Habergham High School and continued until 2006 when Habergham merged with Ivy Bank to form Hameldon Community College. Shuttleworth College took over the site in september 2006 on a temporary basis. Shuttleworth College moved in to its own new buildings on the former Gawthorpe High School site in the 2008-2009 academic year. In feburary 2008 Shuttleworth College was subject to an OFSTED inspection and was placed under special measures resulting in the resignation of the head teacher at the time. More recently the Habergham site was ear marked to be the site of the new Burnley High School but the plans were shelved after the buildings were found to be sitting on top of a disused coal mine. Anyone thinking of visiting should be aware that access is not easy at all and there is security on site as i learned when i was nabbed on the way out.
